Week in Review: Things Even More Depressing Than This Falls Movies
This week, we proved scientificologically that this fall's war-themed, apocalypse-filled awards-bait movies will, against all odds, be even bleaker than last year's. What's more depressing than that? The following things:
David Cook's chances of merchandising any albums.
The imminent flood of shoddily manufactured, unaccredited Mickey Mouse merchandise.
The fact that Hollywood hasn't even found a way to utilize the talents of Anna Faris and the cast of The Office.
 Young Jeezy's gold-medal prospects.
 John McCain's impendent victory.
That we, unlike Soulja Boy, do not accept a Segway scooter to drive around our living room.
The Jonaspocalypse, the Apatocalypse, and the Hitlerpocalypse.
YouTube's unfortunate conclusion to read down the video of Tom Cruise's cameo in Tropic Thunder. That post was getting us a lot of traffic!
The idea of a Veronica Mars movie.
 Benjamin Button's five-hour operative time.
The fact there is no Olympic gold medallion for beingness Ben Silverman.

Even though Brian Culbertson power be categorised as jazz calorie-free, his music has just now sufficiency "oomph" to preserve you interested. The talented pres Young Culbertson credits his daddy with helping him develop an ear for the type of music he makes. His don, Jim Culbertson, a respected high school jazz isthmus managing director and trumpeter, civilised a dearest of sanguine sounds for a whitney Moore Young Jr. Brian, world Health Organization thirstily listened to anything his dada listened to. Their Decatur, IL, home would be alive with the recorded sounds of Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, the Brecker Brothers, and David Sanborn. Growing up, Culbertson also listened to '70s R&B/pop/funk bands like Blood, Sweat & Tears, Tower of Power, and Earth, Wind & Fire. Culbertson began his musical training at the age of eight with piano lessons; at nine he affected to drums, at ten trombone, and at 12 bass. Bored with classical recital pieces, he began composing in junior high. By his newbie year in high school, he was experimenting with the then-new Yamaha DX-7 synthesizer and an older four-track recorder in the cellar of his parents' home. His dedication earned him six-spot single and v mathematical group Downbeat bookman awards.
During his high school years, he started acquiring into MIDI sequencing and synthesizers. He couldn't discover players wHO were able to play his songs on the storey he wanted. Most of his peers were into heavy metal. So Culbertson, world Health Organization cites pop producer/songwriter David Foster (World, Wind & Fire's "After the Love Is Gone") as i of his strongest influences, knowledgeable how to play all the parts himself. Keeping to himself, he negated whatsoever problems with peer acceptance of his musical taste. After gradation, Culbertson headed to Chicago to begin studies in the music program at DePaul University. On campus, he began to run into high-level musicians and started performing in a isthmus. A family protagonist helped Culbertson get a deal with Mesa/Blue Moon in 1994. In the sleeping accommodation of the flat he shared with trio college buddies, Culbertson single-handed recorded his debut record album, Long Night Out. The album played out ten-spot consecutive weeks in the Top Five of the adult present-day charts. On his follow-up album, Modern Life, Culbertson eschewed the one-woman band approach in favour of a live banding made up of some of the best musicians in Chicago, plus astral saxophonist Gerald Albright. He's since place out respective other albums, including After Hours (1995), Secrets (1997), and Somethin' Bout Love (1999). Culbertson's productions include albums by Bob Mamet and Steve Cole. Having gotten into composing publicizing jingles, Culbertson has fructify his sights on soundtracks. In 2001 the pianist (wHO also could play the trombone, trumpet, and rhythm section as well) released Skillful & Slow, followed by Come on Up in 2003. Two age later he issued It's on Tonight, and in 2006 Soulful Christmas, a assembling of holiday favorites as well as an original.

Young Jeezy Explains How He Got On Usher's 'Love In This Club,' Says Third Album Will Drop 'Sooner Than You Think'
What started as Jeezy jumping on a couple of songs for the streets has turned into a journey that led to a #1 single: Usher's "Love in This Club."
"It was a combination of a lot of things," he said about the record, which went from #51 to the top spot on Billboard's Hot 100 recently. "Me and [producer] Polow [Da Don] was about to work. Me and Ush cool anyway. So when I heard the record, I wanted a beat like that. Polow was like, 'You like the song?' I was like, 'Yeah, let me put something on it.' "
Jeezy said he didn't hesitate to get on the song, despite the song's content. Gangstas don't dance, they boogie — and they certainly don't do the wild thing in public.
"It was a twist, because it was talking about making love in the club," he said. "I'm a G. I don't do stuff like that. 'How are people gonna look at me when I step outside [the box]?' So I just did me on the song. I don't get a chance to talk to the ladies a lot. If I had a chance to talk to them, that's what I would say: 'I'm what you want; I'm what you need.' ... At the same time, I never thought it would be the type of record it was, [that] everybody would respect it the way it was. Me and Ush talked about it [being] crazy. You could put those two type of elements together and still make sense. It ain't taking nothing away from nobody.
"I'mma tell you the craziest sh--," he continued about the first time he heard the complete record. "The same night they leaked the record, or however it got out, I'm in [Atlanta strip club] Platinum 21. I might have heard the song 15 times. Keep in mind, I don't have a copy of the song. I'm sitting in the corner like, 'Damn!' I'm in the strip club, they playing the song, and everybody loved it. Just to see it, it was like you can do records like that and still be you."
The Snowman told MTV News that he's just enjoying himself, and chances are, he probably won't charge for a guest spot. If he likes the song, he'll jump on it. His third album is on the way. He's not giving any titles or release dates but promises it will come "sooner than you think."
"I live like I'm still out in the streets," he said. "That's how I cater my music. On my third album, those people [who bought my first two albums] grew with me. I gotta address the subjects and topics they're dealing with now after four years. You don't wanna go back and try to do the first album. Why would you try to do that? That was then. They growing with you. That's how people mess up: They try to be younger. Nah, man. Do you. The people are growing with you."
Jeezy recently jumped on Lil Wayne's "Lollipop," making an unofficial remix. In addition to Jeezy's appearance on the new Mariah Carey song "Side Effects," there are also remixes of Shawty Lo's "Dey Know," Rocko's "Umma Do Me" and The-Dream's "I Luv Your Girl."

Tesco Tells Tv Chef To Pay 90000 For Chicken Debate
Tesco has asked TV chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall to shell out nearly £90,000 to take a chicken campaign to the grocer's shareholders at its next AGM.
The chef is campaigning for new minimum welfare standards for poultry - including lower stocking densities and more environmental stimuli for the birds - and submitted a resolution to Tesco a few weeks ago to put before shareholders at the company's annual general meeting (AGM).
But Tesco is demanding £86,888 from Fearnley-Whittingstall to print and post the papers out to all 269,000 Tesco shareholders ahead of the meeting on June 27th.
Britain's biggest retailer wants the cash by Wednesday June 11th, leaving the chef just two days to raise the money.
In a statement on his website, Fearnley-Whittingstall said: "Now Tesco have told me that they will only take our resolution to the AGM if I meet the cost of distributing the relevant papers to their shareholders.
"They are entitled to waive this fee, and we have requested that they do so, in the interest of shareholder democracy, but they have declined."
Fearnley-Whittingstall plans to cover the cost with £30,000 of his own money and raise the rest through donations and an auction.
Prizes at the auction, which is being conducted online, include meals cooked by the chef, a fishing trip and signed copies of his latest book.
TV chefs have been clashing with supermarkets on welfare standards for animals as public interest in the environment grows.
Jamie Oliver had to apologise to his employer Sainsbury's earlier this year after criticising the company's involvement with battery-bred chickens.
